All-on-6 follows the same principle as All-on-4 — a fixed bridge carried on implants rather than a removable denture — but uses six implants to spread the load across the arch. It tends to be recommended where there is enough bone to place them and where the bite puts heavy force through the restoration.
What all-on-6 implants treatment involves
Because the extra implants share the chewing load, an All-on-6 bridge can be built longer and can tolerate more force, which is why it often comes up for lower arches and for patients who grind. It also means more surgery and a higher price than All-on-4, so it is worth understanding why it is being proposed for you specifically. As with All-on-4, the pathway is a surgical trip with a fixed temporary bridge, a healing period of a few months, then a second trip for the permanent bridge. The decision between four and six implants comes out of a CBCT scan and a clinical examination — not out of a price list.

Six implants, and the choices around them
Once the number is settled, the rest of the quote is material and configuration. These are the parts worth asking about by name.
Six implants, straight where possible
Six points of support across the arch, with less need for the steeply angled posterior placement All-on-4 depends on.

- Lower arches, heavy or grinding bites, and anyone who wants the load spread as widely as their bone allows.
- Trade-off
- More surgical sites, a slightly longer procedure and more swelling — and it needs the bone volume to be there in all six positions.
Monolithic zirconia bridge
The arch milled from a single block of zirconia.

- Heavy bites — which is often exactly why six implants were chosen in the first place, so the two go together frequently.
- Trade-off
- The most expensive option, and a fracture means remaking the bridge rather than repairing a single tooth.
Acrylic bridge on a titanium framework

- Adds months and cost. If four well-placed implants would do the job, grafting to reach six is a large price for a marginal gain — and it is a fair question to ask.

The scan is also where four-or-six is decided. Six spreads the load over more anchor points, and it needs enough bone in more places to be worth doing.

Recovery, and how long all-on-6 implants last
Recovery follows the same pattern as All-on-4, with a little more swelling in the first week because there are more surgical sites.
- Days 1–7
- Swelling and bruising peaking around day two or three. Liquid then very soft food, ice, prescribed medication, sleeping propped up. No smoking.
- Weeks 2–6
- Swelling resolves and the diet widens gradually. The temporary bridge is fixed but not for tearing at hard food. Daily cleaning under the bridge becomes routine.
- Months 2–6
- You feel entirely normal while the implants finish integrating. The gums shrink slightly as they mature — the reason the permanent bridge is made at the end of this window.
- Call someone if…
- Increasing rather than decreasing pain after day three, fever, a loose temporary bridge, or lip or chin numbness that has not lifted.
How long it lasts
Six implants spread the chewing load more widely than four, and where the bone and the bite justify them that is a real advantage over the long run — particularly in a lower arch. It does not make the bridge permanent. The acrylic or zirconia on top is still a wearing component, screws are still checked at reviews, and the thing most likely to end the treatment early is still infection around an implant that was not cleaned under. Six implants also mean six sites to keep clean, which is a small argument in favour of taking the hygienist appointments seriously rather than an argument against the extra support.
What can go wrong with all-on-6 implants, and what reduces it
Every item here can happen in a UK practice too. What travelling changes is how easily it gets sorted out — which is the reason this site puts a UK examination in front of a flight.
Paying for six where four would have done
Ask to be shown, on the scan, why six. There are good answers — bone volume, bite force, arch length — and a clinic that has one will give it happily.
An implant failing to integrate
The same risk factors as any implant: smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, untreated gum disease. Six supports mean one failure is less catastrophic than with four, which is part of the case for them — not a reason to relax about it.
Peri-implant infection
Cleaning under the bridge daily and a hygienist at home on a schedule. More implants means more sites to look after.
Clearing an arch that could have been treated
A second opinion before agreeing to extract teeth that are still sound. This is the irreversible part of the treatment.
Nobody at home able to unscrew it
Implant system, screw type and bridge material in writing before you fly home, plus your radiographs.
“Will a UK dentist touch it when I get home?”
It is the most asked question about dental treatment abroad, and the answer is more practical than most of the arguing suggests. UK dentists are not refusing work on principle. They are refusing to guarantee treatment they did not carry out and cannot identify — and on that, they are right. A dentist asked to adjust a crown needs to know what it is made of; asked to service an implant, they need the system and the part numbers.
So the thing that decides how this goes for you is paperwork, and it is settled before you fly rather than after. You leave with the materials named, the components identified, your radiographs and a written guarantee that says what is covered and for how long. And because we examine you in the UK before anything is booked, there is a named person here to call — not only a WhatsApp number in another time zone.
Same as All-on-4 and for the same reason: the bridge is screw-retained, so a UK dentist needs the implant system, the screw type and the driver before they can take it off to clean or repair underneath. Get those three things in writing before you leave Antalya.

When all-on-6 implants are not the answer
We would rather lose the enquiry than sell you the wrong treatment. Any of these can be the better call, and the UK examination is where that gets decided.
All-on-4
When the bone at the back of the arch is reduced, and angled placement avoids a graft. Fewer surgical sites, lower cost, and entirely adequate in the right mouth.
An implant-retained overdenture
When cost or cleaning is the deciding factor. It clips onto implants and comes out, which makes hygiene far easier for anyone with limited dexterity.
Individual implants and crowns
When enough of your own teeth are worth keeping that clearing the arch would be the wrong trade.
A conventional full denture
Where surgery is not advisable. Less stable, far cheaper, and still a legitimate treatment rather than a failure.

Common questions
Will a UK dentist maintain an All-on-6 bridge from Turkey?
Routine reviews, hygienist care and most repairs, yes — as long as they can identify the system. A screw-retained full-arch bridge has to be removable by whoever is looking after it, and that means knowing the implant brand, the screw type and having the matching driver. Ask for all three in writing before you fly home; it is a single line of paperwork that decides how easy the next ten years are.
Is All-on-6 always better than All-on-4?
No — better is whatever suits your bone and your bite. Six implants need six sites with enough bone to take them. Where that is available and the forces are high, six can be the sounder plan; where it is not, four well-placed implants are not a compromise.
How long do I have to stay in Turkey for All-on-6?
About 7–10 days for the surgical trip, then 5–7 days for the permanent bridge three to six months later. Slightly more swelling than All-on-4 in the first few days, because there are more surgical sites.
Does it hurt more than All-on-4?
It is more surgery, so expect a similar recovery pattern with a little more swelling. Both are done under local anaesthetic with sedation available, and both mean a soft diet for a week or two.
Do All-on-6 bridges have fake gums?
Usually, yes — the bridge includes a pink section that replaces gum tissue lost with the teeth. It is what allows the teeth to be the right length and the lip to be supported properly, and on a well-made bridge the join sits above the smile line where it does not show. If yours would be visible, that should be discussed at the try-in stage, because it changes the design.
How long does an All-on-6 bridge last?
The implants are the long-term component; the bridge is a wearing part that may be refurbished or remade over the years. Cleaning underneath it and regular hygienist visits do more to decide the outcome than the number of implants does. Treat any guaranteed lifespan figure as marketing.
